On August 1, more than 50 Society members joined the Toronto Caribbean Carnival for our first year participating in the celebration. Society members from OPG, Hydro One, OEB, LAO, ALS, Bruce Power and BWXT took part alongside fellow union members from CUPE, ONA, IBEW and Unifor as part of the Epic Mas Band. The day brought members together from across the Society to celebrate Caribbean culture and connect with the broader labour community.
Taking place on Emancipation Day, the Carnival was also an opportunity to recognize the history of emancipation and the continued importance of community and collective action.
Thank you to the members, volunteers and elected representatives who helped make our first year at Carnival a success.
